Wilson's popularity travelled to America in 2014 when she starred in Showtimes The Affair. She performed the role of Alison Lockhart, a young woman who has a difficult relationship with her past, and is drawn to Noah Solloway. Wilson won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress In A Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson in an interview with British Vogue back in 2015, said that she enjoyed being able to play characters with two different viewpoints. Noah thinks of Alison to be this confident reckless sexually attractive version of her. In reality, however Alison sees herself as dowdy. Wilson also stated that she believed America is morally skewed. Wilson has left The Simpsons in the year 2018, did not provide any details. In an August 2018 interview with CBS This Morning, Wilson admitted that she had a desire to quit the show, but wasn't allowed to explain what the reason was. Wilson is currently shifting her attention towards film. She was in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing who lives in the house in 2016, and later in the sci-fi romance How to Talk to Girls on Parties in which she played the mysterious PT Stella. She will be adding an additional horror movie to her credits when she appears in The Little Stranger, a British version of The Little Stranger, a supernatural thriller based upon the book by Sarah Waters. Wilson will also produce the film.
